Artist Bio: Britt Bidlake

The beauty that surrounds Britt in her hometown of Penticton, BC is what inspires her daily; the landscapes, the animals, the natural flora, the people – her inspiration draws upon them all.
Britt’s passion for the arts was fostered at a young age, influenced largely by the creativity of the many talented women in her life. Upon completion of a Bachelors of Commerce degree at the University of Northern British Columbia, She went on to study Ceramics and Painting at Emily Carr University of Art and Design. She credits time spent working and travelling out-of-doors, for fostering her love of nature.
In 2014, while in the midst of completing her Bachelors of Education, Britt was diagnosed with severe post-concussion syndrome after a life altering collision on the ski-hill. “There were a lot of things that I couldn’t do anymore [post-concussion] and it was devastating. I had to learn to slow down and focus on things that I could do, art being one of them,” - Britt. Regardless of the unexpected turn of events, She is forever grateful that life pushed her to more actively pursue this creative direction. One day, Britt would like to provide lessons in Art and its’ healing capabilities.
To date, Britt’s works portray the beauty that is found at the intersections between people, animals, and the environment. She uses a wide variety of mediums including: acrylic on canvas, watercolour, clay and others. Britt enjoys creating custom paintings with clients.
